To celebrate the Kiwanis Club of Exeter’s 100th anniversary, 4Creeks led the design and structural engineering of a reconstructed Exeter entry arch, reviving a beloved 1920s landmark with modern durability. Crafted from weathering steel and inspired by the original redwood design, the new arch now proudly welcomes visitors into downtown as a symbol of local history and community spirit.

Project Overview

As part of the Kiwanis Club of Exeter’s 100th anniversary celebration, the community set out to restore a long-lost symbol of local pride—the historic Exeter entry arch. Originally constructed in the 1920s and dismantled just a few years later, the arch lived on only in memory and a mural painted in 2002. 4Creeks was honored to lead the design efforts for the reconstruction of this iconic structure, providing Architecture and Structural Engineering services. Guided by our architecture team, the new design pays tribute to the original, which was crafted from redwood bark. While preserving the charm of its historic form, the revitalized arch was engineered with modern durability in mind, constructed from weathering Corten steel to stand the test of time. Today, the newly completed arch once again welcomes visitors into downtown Exeter—a proud tribute to the city’s rich history and the enduring spirit of community.
